| Our ‘Newton Brown Light’ double strap monks from our summer collection are handcrafted, on a British shoe last, by skilled artisans in our manufactory in Italy. The summer version of our ‘Newton’ has a particular leather sole in buffalo style, this leather type is known for being unprocessed and accentuating the natural characteristics of leather-like wrinkles and pores. The classic shoe has a rotellato detail made by hand and is stitched in the blake welt method. Due to this construction, the shoe has more flexibility. The classic Monks are made out of high-quality dark brown calfskin with a three step finish created by hand. In the first phase, the first layer of colour is made with pomade which is brushed and ironed. In the next phase, a colour ointment is worked into the leather and afterwards brushed and ironed. In the third phase, the leather is waxed for the finishing and the colour is polished.
